Henry Martyn Robert first published the “Pocket Manual for Rules of Order for Deliberative Assemblies in 1875. In the 146 years since it has grown to be the standard for running meetings from political parties to corporate boards to local garden clubs. When anyone first sits in a meeting run by Robert’s Rules it seems like an alien way of thinking, but with a little help you can learn the basics quickly. With a quick overview of how Robert’s Rules are intended to work and some training in the most common motions you too can sound like a seasoned rules geek.
